Hello! My name is Alyssa Capdevila, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapy trainee at Horizon Counseling Center, training under the supervision of Susan Harrison, LMFT. I receive weekly supervision and training from Susan to ensure that I am providing ethical, thoughtful, and effective care. I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at National University, where my education emphasizes systemic, culturally responsive, and evidence-informed practice.
I bring experience from working at an ABA center with children ages three and up diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as supporting college students from underrepresented and underserved communities. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to advocacy, equity, and meeting clients where they are with empathy and respect.
My therapeutic style is warm, client-centered, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I enjoy working with children, teens, young adults, families and couples. I have particular interest in concerns related to ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, life transitions, being in a blended family and LGBTQ+ experiences. I strive to create a safe and affirming space where clients feel seen and heard as we explore their stories, identify patterns, and work together toward meaningful change.
I believe that each person’s context, culture, and relationships matter, and I tailor my approach to each client’s unique needs and goals. It is an honor to walk alongside you as you build insight, resilience, and more fulfilling ways of relating to yourself and others.
